ANU Zoom training for SIS Staff

In this training, we learn about using ANU Zoom. Zoom focuses on collaboration between users through audio/video communication, recording, and screen sharing. ANU academics, staff, and students are all eligible to create their own Zoom meeting room to host meetings.

Learn how to access your account, schedule and manage meetings and student consultations, and make the most of Zoom. Have a Word document ready to share with the other participants. The second half will be about hosting webinar and what is involved.

Scholarly Communications 101: the four pillars

This session begins with a brief historical tour through Scholarly Communications and Publishing since the 1600s. Along the way, you'll learn about the four pillars around which this history can be told, and how these remain foundational for contemporary scholars to produce original and authoritative research.

In the second half of the session, discover how SIS Open Research and Digital Scholarship works in partnership at a researcher and institutional level, to ensure access to high quality traditional, and non-traditional, ANU research outputs.

Using Canva to Create Compelling Visuals

Learn to use Canva, an easy to use graphic design platform that allows you to create powerpoint slides, social media posts, presentations, posters, teaching resources, promotional materials and other visual content.

It has been described as the “no tech or design skills required” content creation tool. Session will cover basics of design and how to improve your existing graphic content, whilst following ANU guidelines.

You will leave able to create a range of graphics that you can use across a variety of platforms (websites, social media, PPT, libguides, printable teaching resources, and more).

We’ll show you how to meet the Visualise Your Thesis (VYT) PowerPoint Competition requirements, and create short, engaging animated videos using Powtoon. This webinar is designed specifically for candidates who are doing the VYT competition, but will be useful for other situations, such as the Three Minute Thesis (3MT), or to help ANU staff and students make more impactful conference presentations. Suitable for all disciplines and various levels of creativity and digital skills.
